Antonio Corbo was born in Campobasso, where he resides. During the Mid \u201860s political and cultural ferment, he has been engaged on different levels: Art, Theatre and, after the first working years, his increasing interest in the labor union too. After this personal choice, he stayed in Rome for many years, but he never turned away and never detached from his hometown.<\/p>\n

In this cultural atmosphere, added to the painting and the acting, he cultivated a personal interest hidden for years: the Poetry. In the ’90s, a collection of his poems entitled ” The gate of the beech trees\u201d was published, within the series of “Contemporary Italian Poets ” (1992). He still cultivates this interest, publishing other poems, together with the printing of his exhibit catalogs, on newspapers and magazines.<\/p>\n

Since the \u201860s up to the present, the author never stopped painting and he continued his research and his own experimentation into the various forms of arts, effectively and efficiently.<\/p>\n

In the \u201860s and \u201870s Corbo, sensitive to listen to the voice of the suffering and to treat purely social issues through his figures, concentrates on expressionistic drawings and graphics, among which a large series of posters.<\/p>\n

But, above all, he discovers the landscape, working intensively on it till the \u201890s. Gradually, the graphic signs are limited to purely figurative elements and painting presents itself, in audacious perspectives and effects, and in imaginary transfigurations.<\/p>\n

The production of the first years of 2000 is closely related to the previous researches, but something forces its way, as, for instance, the matter, unbound and autonomous.
\nThe dealt topics, ventilating a new interest of the painter, are now associated with the primordial, the birth of the Universe and the various forms of life. A return to the origin of things that puts to the test figurative representation, sometimes nullifying the latter.<\/p>\n

Two important exhibitions in the Netherlands have been carried out during 2010 and 2011. The first one planned at the municipal and institutional office “Raadhuis”, Heemstede; the second one at the gallery \u201cDe Galerie\u201c, Spieremburg, Haarlem.<\/p>\n

With the solo-exhibit “Parallel Paths”, hosted in his hometown in 2011, the interplay between the painting and the poetry became the main theme in tribute to these two arts: the author creates a dialogue between them, using fruitful exchanges, in spite of the complexity of their deep structures and their respective codes.<\/p>\n

In 2013 he set up five solo-exhibits. The first one in Genoa, into the seventeenth-century Palazzo Stella, with the title “Between Earth and Heaven”; the second one in Finale Ligure, “The Colors of the Unrest” and “Cosmic Visions” in conjunction with the sixth edition of the ” International Festival of Unrest “; the third and the fourth ones in the Valle d’ Aosta, respectively Brusson, Municipal Library and Saint-Vincent, City ‘s Civic Gallery.<\/p>\n

He participated to the Ninth edition of ArteGenova – exhibition market of modern and contemporary art – and to the twenty-fourth edition of the Contemporary and Modern Exhibition Market in Padua.
\nAs one of the finalists of the Fifth Biennale of Contemporary Art ” GenovArte 2013 ‘, he had his work “Cosmic Activity 2 ” been rewarded and reported by the jury. He also participated to the “Turin MIIT Biennale 2013 \u201c, organized by the Italian Art review and the Arte International Museum as well as to numerous exhibitions, including the Art Exhibit ” ContemporaneaMente ” in Genoa, during the \u201cContemporary day ” and also the \u201cAd Aeternum: Art immortal”, organized in the Pope\u2019s Palace Maffei Marescotti, Vatican City, Rome.<\/p>\n

In the first months of 2014, he performed a solo-exhibition in Verres (AO) and participated to three exhibitions of art: the first one in Genoa, Satura Art Gallery, the second one in Milan, \u201cMAEC – Milan Art & Events Center\u201d – entitled “Winds of Art, the experience of the contemporary” and the third one in Ivrea, “Spazio Aperto” Gallery.<\/p>\n

He also participated to the Biennale of Germany occurred in the Museum “Altes Dampfbad” in Baden-Baden, titled “The Art of Luxury” and, in London, to the exhibition “Royal Art in the World” at the Royal Opera Arcade Gallery, both curated by “Italian Art” and the MIIT Museum of Turin.<\/p>\n

Invited to the “Present Art Festival in Shanghai 2014”, his work “The colors of dawn” has been exposed in China in various museums, cultural centers and galleries for a year.<\/p>\n

In September and October 2014, in his hometown, at the headquarters of the Molise Culture Foundation, with the patronage of the Molise Region, the Province and the City of Campobasso, he has realized his first anthological exhibition “Introspection and vision.” On display 125 works of his artistic career placed between 1963 and 2014.<\/p>\n

During 2015 he participated to the II International Art Biennial – Palermo Artexpo, Politeama Theatre – curated by Paolo Levi and Vittorio Sgarbi.<\/p>\n

Hereafter he exhibited in Monreale (Sicily, Italy), in the historical complex of William II with its splendid Cathedral, where the City Council awarded him the ” William II Prize”, attributed to personalities of art and culture over the years.<\/p>\n

In Malaga (Spain), near the birthplace of Picasso, at the art gallery Javier Rom\u00e1n, the author performed a solo exhibition entitled “Dialogos”, meant as language subjects, techniques and color ascribable to his works in and to his life experiences.<\/p>\n

He participated to the XVI Genoa Biennial, to “Photissima Art Fair & Festival 2015”, in the Cloister of the Friars at the Historical Archives of the State of Venice opened for the first time to painting and sculpture, and further, in Genoa, “StregARTE 2015 – the art that bewitches “, an International Contemporary Art Festival.<\/p>\n

In conjunction with the opening of the 2015 Jubilee, in the prestigious halls of the “Palazzo Cardinal Cesi” in Rome, he was awarded the “International Award Michelangelo – Artists for the Jubilee” in the presence of celebrities from the world of culture.<\/p>\n

Folders of his graphic works and of his posters were used right through some national and regional historical events, conferences and congresses.<\/p>\n

The author was rewarded with numerous prizes and accolades by the critics. His works are exhibited in private collections, public institutions and museums, in Italy and abroad.<\/p>\n

\"antonio<\/a>Antonio Corbo \u00e8 nato a Campobasso dove tuttora risiede. I fermenti culturali, politici e sindacali della met\u00e0 degli anni \u201960 lo vedono impegnato su pi\u00f9 fronti: l\u2019Arte innanzitutto, il Teatro, ma gi\u00e0 dopo i primi anni di lavoro il suo interesse sar\u00e0 sempre pi\u00f9 rivolto in ambito sindacale. Questa scelta, per molti anni, lo vedr\u00e0 impegnato a Roma, ma mai si allontaner\u00e0 e distaccher\u00e0 dalla sua citt\u00e0.<\/p>

In ambito culturale, oltre alla pittura ed al teatro, ha coltivato per anni un interesse nascosto: la Poesia. Negli anni \u201990, verr\u00e0 pubblicata una sua raccolta di liriche dal titolo \u201cIl Cancello di Faggi\u201d, nella collana \u201cPoeti Italiani Contemporanei\u201d (1992). Ancora oggi i suoi versi sono pubblicati in occasione di cataloghi d'arte.<\/p>

Sin dagli anni \u201960 l\u2019autore non ha mai smesso di dipingere e di portare avanti una sua ricerca ed una sua sperimentazione intrecciando e correlando fra loro le varie forme d\u2019Arte in modo proficuo ed efficace.<\/p>

Fra gli anni \u201860 e \u201870 l\u2019autore, sensibile ad ascoltare la voce della sofferenza ed a trattare temi prettamente sociali attraverso le sue figure, concentra nel disegno e nella grafica tutta la carica accumulata dai toni marcatamente espressionistici che trova spazio, coerentemente, anche in una cospicua produzione applicata alla stampa di manifesti.<\/p>

Ma scopre anche soprattutto il paesaggio che rappresenta con ostinazione fino agli anni \u201890, portando i tratti grafici forti sempre pi\u00f9 verso la semplificazione degli elementi figurativi e ricorrendo ormai anche alla pittura, in scorci e tagli arditi e in trasfigurazioni immaginarie.<\/p>

La produzione dei primi anni del duemila \u00e8 strettamente correlata alle precedenti ricerche, ma c\u2019\u00e8 qualcosa di diverso che si fa strada, come, per esempio, la materia, pi\u00f9 libera ed autonoma. I temi trattati, d\u2019interesse del pittore, sono ora legati alla primordialit\u00e0, alla nascita dell\u2019universo e alle diverse forme di vita. Un andare all\u2019origine delle cose che mette alla prova la figurazione fino in certi casi ad annullarla.<\/p>

Nel corso del 2010 e del 2011 ha realizzato due importanti mostre in Olanda. La prima nella sede municipale ed istituzionale \u201cRaadhuis\u201d di Heemstede; la seconda presso la galleria \u201cDe Galerie\u201d \u2013 Spieremburg \u2013 di Haarlem.<\/p>

Con la mostra personale \u201c Percorsi paralleli\u201d del 2011, ospitata nella sua citt\u00e0, l\u2019intreccio tra pittura e poesia diventa il filo conduttore in omaggio alla collateralit\u00e0 di queste due arti che, con fruttuosi scambi, sia pur nella complessit\u00e0 delle loro strutture profonde e dei rispettivi codici, l\u2019Autore fa dialogare tra loro.<\/p>

Nel 2013 ha allestito cinque mostre personali. Una a Genova, \u201cTra terra e cielo\u201d, nello splendido Palazzo Stella del \u2019600; due a Finale Ligure, \u201cI colori dell\u2019Inquietudine\u201d e \u201cVisioni cosmiche\u201d in concomitanza della VI edizione del \u201cFestival internazionale dell\u2019Inquietudine\u201d; due in Valle d\u2019Aosta, rispettivamente a Brusson, presso la Biblioteca comunale, e a Saint-Vincent, nella Galleria civica comunale.<\/p>

Ha partecipato alla IX edizione di ArteGenova \u2013 mostra mercato d\u2019Arte moderna e contemporanea \u2013 ed alla XXIV edizione della mostra mercato di Padova.<\/p>

Finalista alla V Biennale d\u2019Arte contemporanea di \u201c GenovArte 2013\u201d, la sua opera \u201cAttivit\u00e0 cosmica 2\u201d, viene premiata e segnalata dalla Giuria. Ha partecipato, inoltre, alla \u201c Biennale MIIT Torino 2013\u201d curata da Italia Arte e dal Museo Internazionale omonimo ed a numerose rassegne d\u2019Arte tra cui \u201c ContemporaneaMente \u201c a Genova , in occasione della giornata del \u201cContemporaneo\u201d e \u201c Ad Aeternum: Arte immortale \u201c, nel Palazzo papale Maffei Marescotti di Citt\u00e0 del Vaticano, Roma.<\/p>

Nei primi mesi del\u00a02014, ha effettuato una mostra personale a Verres (AO) ed ha partecipato a tre rassegne d\u2019Arte: la prima a Genova, presso Satura Art Gallery; la seconda a Milano presso il MAEC- Milan Art & Events Center - dal titolo \u201c Venti d\u2019Arte, l\u2019esperienza del contemporaneo\u201d; la terza ad Ivrea presso la Galleria \u201cSpazio aperto\u201d.<\/p>

Ha partecipato, inoltre, alla prima biennale della Germania svoltasi nel Museo \u201cAltes Dampfbad\u201d di Baden-Baden dal titolo \u201cLuxury Art\/Arte del Lusso\u201d e, a Londra, alla mostra \u201cRoyal Art in the World\u201d, presso la Royal Opera Arcade Gallery, entrambe curate da \u201cItalia ARTE\u201d e dal Museo MIIT di Torino.<\/p>

Invitato al \u201cPresent Art Festival di Shanghai 2014\u201d, la sua opera \u201cI colori dell'alba\u201d rimarr\u00e0 esposta in Cina in vari Musei, Centri Culturali e Gallerie per un anno.<\/p>

Nei mesi di settembre ed ottobre del 2014, nella sua citt\u00e0, presso la splendida sede della Fondazione Molise Cultura, Palazzo ex GIL, col patrocinio della regione Molise, della Provincia e del Comune di Campobasso, ha realizzato la sua prima antologica, \"Introspezione e visione\". In mostra 125 opere riguardanti l'intero suo percorso artistico collocato fra il 1963 e il 2014.<\/p>

Agli inizi del 2015 ha partecipato alla II Biennale d'Arte Internazionale - Palermo Artexpo - curata da Paolo Levi e da Vittorio Sgarbi, esponendo al Teatro Politeama della citt\u00e0.<\/p>

A seguire, ha esposto a Monreale (PA), nel complesso monumentale Guglielmo II, della splendida cattedrale, dove l'Amministrazione comunale gli ha conferito il \"Premio Guglielmo II\" attribuito negli anni a personalit\u00e0 dell'arte e della cultura.<\/p>

Cartelle di sue opere grafiche e suoi manifesti sono stati realizzati in campo regionale e nazionale, in occasione di eventi storici, convegni, congressi.<\/p>

L\u2019Autore ha ottenuto premi e riconoscimenti di critica.<\/p>

Sue opere sono esposte in collezioni private, musei ed istituzioni pubbliche.<\/p>
